Instructor: Janet Rasey, PhD
Students of the Grant Writing Course will learn the basics of crafting grant proposals. the goal of the course is for each participant to complete a competitive grant proposal by the end of the course. Many past participants have received awards for the National Institutes of Health, foundations and industry. The course is formatted so that proposals are reviewed and critiqued as they are being written. The grant writers in the course will have the benefit of having their proposals reviewed by peers, faculty mentors and Dr. Rasey. Class size is limited to twelve students to allow in depth review and guidance from Dr. Rasey. There is a course fee for applicants from outside the Radiology Department. Janet S. Rasey, PhD
Dr. Janet Rasey is Professor Emeritus of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan (BS in Zoology), Oregon State University (MS in Radiological Health) and the University of Oregon (PhD in Biology). Her principle research interests include cancer imaging. Her research programs have been supported by grants from the NIH, including a MERIT Award, and business concerns. From 1989 to 2005 Dr. Rasey directed the Research Funding Service at UW, which aided investigators in finding sources of research funds and learning how to write grant applications. she taught the Advanced Grant Writing class for the Radiological Society of North America from 2004 to 2011 and has taught grant writing to faculty and fellows in the UW Radiology Department since 2009.
