The Vascular Imaging Laboratory (VIL) at the University of Washington is comprised of a multi-disciplinary group of researchers who are dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge, education, and training in the field of medical imaging. We develop high resolution imaging technology for the medical community.

Mission Statement
The Vascular Imaging Lab is committed to advancing imaging technology and identifying the underlying causes of cardiovascular disease initiation, progression, and complications.

Upcoming Events
MRI of Carotid Atherosclerosis Workshop - September 24-25th, 2008
The VIL is offering its second annual workshop on 3T MR imaging of vulnerable carotid plaque.  This is an intensive two-day course which focuses on hands-on scanning and analysis while providing a solid foundation in carotid MRI.

Carotid Atherosclerosis Imaging Symposium - September 26th, 2008
In conjunction with the imaging workshop, the VIL is holding its second imaging symposium, entitled Carotid Atherosclerosis Imaging: Application in Clinical Trials and Natural History Studies.

VIL in the News

High Rish Plaque Initiative
VIL is proud to contribute its carotid imaging protocol and expertise in carotid MR acquisition to the BioImage Study portion of the High Risk Plaque Intitiative, an ambitious multi-center trial which aims to evaluate new methods to reliably predict which patients are at the highest risk for developing a heart attack or stroke, before the event occurs. VIL will serve as the primary review center for MR images from the HRP intitiative.
