The new NIH director was appointed in August.  One of his key themes is translational research.  Since many of the Imaging Research Laboratory projects are framed as  'translational', Lab members will discuss the meaning of this for modern medicine and science.  Please review the article Translational Medicine: Science or wishful thinking? and Rejecting 'Big Science' tag, Collins sets five themes for NIH.  The format will be:

  1. Introduction to NIH - Jenine Yager, IRL Research Coordinator

  2. Introduction to the new director - Adam Alessio, IRL Assistant Research Professor
