Figure 3. FDG PET image of a mouse with skin tumor and multiple papillomas. Images were obtained using a microPET scanner developed at the University of Washington (cMiCE scanner, Miyaoka, Lewellen). This scanner has an intrinsic spatial resolution of -1.2 mm FWHM. Image reconstructed using OSEM(DB) method (Kinahan). Inset image shows cross-section through heart. In addition to this super high-resolution scanner, an additional commercial scanner will also be available in 2008 for various preclinical cancer research (NIH/NCRR funded, PI. Miyaoka). (Miyaoka, Lewellen, Kinahan, Kemp, et al.) currently on-going.
