Radiology Web Services Team

The Radiology Web Services team was established in 2006 to manage the public and private web presence of the UW Department of Radiology.  Our ongoing mission is to support the Department of Radiology in maintaining and extending its world-class web presence.

Major Projects

UW Radiology Web Sites

The UW Department of Radiology maintains a number of websites as part of its effort to maintain a world-class web presence.  Our main website is www.rad.washington.edu but we also maintain the following sites:

  • courses.rad.washington.edu

An online classroom dedicated to hosting courses and course materials for the teaching of radiology.  Courses may be available only to UW Radiology students, or may be open to participation from around the world.  Currently there are over 4500 users registered.  If you would like to learn more about how you can create and run an online course in this system, please contact us

  • calendar.rad.washington.edu

An online calendaring system supporting the educational, research and administrative function of the department.  If you are interested in establishing a new calendar, please contact us

  • wiki.rad.washington.edu

A simple wiki available to groups and members within the department.  If you would like to be granted access to create a wiki for your own group, please contact us

If you are interested in learning more about the Department of Radiology Website, you can find more documentation in the following locations:

HuskyWeb Hosting

As part of the department-wide effort to cut costs and save money during these tough economic times, the Radiology Web Services team has launched a new service to provide hosted content managed websites at a low cost to departments and units around the University of Washington.  This project has been named HuskyWeb.  The project aims to leverage excess capacity on the server cluster that hosts our departmental web presence to provide additional income in support of Web Services activities.

Although the activities of this project are not directly related to the day-to-day operations of the department, updates and information about the project will be made available on this site, primarily through the Radiology Web Services Status Page.

If you would like to learn more about HuskyWeb Hosting, please visit the project website at huskyweb.washington.edu.

Radiology Case Reports Journal

In january of 2006, Drs. Felix Chew and Michael Richardson, in concert with Dr. Catherine Roberts of the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale Arizona, established Radiology Case Reports, an online Journal dedicated to the open-access publication of peer reviewed case reports featuring radiologic imaging.  The journal is now in its fourth volume, and has published over 250 cases. Radiology Web Services supports this journal by maintaining the software and hardware associated with its operations.

Although the activities of this project are not directly related to the day-to-day operations of the department, updates and information about the project will be made available on this site, primarily through the Radiology Web Services Status Page.

If you would like to learn more about Radiology Case Reports, please visit the journal at radiology.casereports.net

Contacting Radiology Web Services

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our team and its operations, about our various web properties and how they operate, or about any service you think we might be able to provide you.

If you have a problem using any of our websites, or any questions or suggestions for us, please send an email.  You can also contact us by clicking on the 'Request features or report problems with this website' link at the bottom of all pages in  the Department of Radiology website.  We will open a ticket for your query, and you'll be able to track progress and interact with us directly.

While it is possible to contact members of the team directly with your questions, you are strongly encouraged not to do so.  Our in boxes can get quite full and it's entirely too easy to lose track of important queries sent that way.  Our ticketing system allows us to track your questions more completely, and allows any member of the team to respond to a query, which helps to ensure the most rapid possible response.
