Prepare for Grants.gov
Before you begin
Grants.gov introduces substantial changes to application preparation and submission processes. Before you get started, we recommend you consult the following resources:
- Radiology Grants.gov Task Force Findings & Tools: Recommendations and tools from the cross-functional Radiology task force on Grants.gov.
- OSP's documentation on Grants.gov, with lists of common errors and warnings.
- OSP's sample Grants.gov SF424, which shows generic information to include in the SF424.
- See also NIH: Avoiding Common Errors
eRA Commons Registration
PIs must be registered in eRA Commons at least two weeks before submitting Grants.gov applications. If you need to know your eRA Commons user name or would like help registering in eRA Commons, please contact us.
Software Requirements
Those with PCs will need to download PureEdge Viewer to open and complete the application package. Those with Macs can complete the application online using Citrix Server.
Creating PDF Attachments
Most Grants.gov-based applications require that you create .pdf
documents from MS Word-based forms. For those with Acrobat PDF
Writer or Acrobat Professional, we recommend creating .pdf
documents from within Word by using the Print command and selecting
Adobe PDF from the printer menu. This approach requires less
memory and also prevents incompatible tags from being saved in the
document. Grants.gov file attachments must apply the same naming
conventions used in web pages (no spaces or special
characters). Please see OSP's Grants.gov pages for more information.
