General Information
The University of Washington Residency Program in Diagnostic Radiology is an integrated program utilizing the facilities and unique training opportunities of the four University of Washington teaching hospitals and their two outpatient centers. These practice sites provide a busy, diverse and complimentary clinical experience that facilitates education in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology. The residency is a clinically oriented academic program which strives to provide the best training for physicians entering the practice of general Diagnostic Radiology or as a preparation for further training in subspecialty Diagnostic Radiology, Academic Radiology or Radiology Research.
Ten or eleven residents enter each year at the R2 (PGYII) level for four years of training in Diagnostic Radiology. At least one year of clinical training is required to precede training in Diagnostic Radiology. Three clinical (PGYI) positions at Swedish Hospital Medical Center in Seattle are linked to our program in Diagnostic Radiology. The remaining positions require the applicant to match with a clinical year outside of the UW program. All positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
