University of Washington
Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program
The four University of Washington teaching hospitals and their two outpatient facilities provide over 1,225 inpatient beds and 500,000 diagnostic examinations annually. Patient populations are varied and provide a broad, balanced clinical experience in all aspects of diagnostic radiology. Residents actively participate in patient care at all sites under the direct supervision of an attending radiologist. All sites are fully affiliated with the University of Washington School of Medicine.

UWMC is located at the south end of the University of Washington
campus, on the shore of Seattle's Portage Bay. This 350 bed facility
serves as a tertiary referral center for the States of Washington,
Alaska, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. The UWMC Department of Radiology
annually performs over 150,000 diagnostic examinations in all
subspecialty areas of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Cases
are oriented towards complex medical and surgical diseases, Oncology,
Organ Transplantation, Neurology/Neurosurgery and Obstetrics. Ten to
eleven residents are assigned.
UWMC-Roosevelt
UWMC Roosevelt Clinic
Located just west of the University of Washington campus, this 90,000 square foot ambulatory care clinic provides a unique opportunity to train in a modern outpatient setting. Outpatient services focus on Primary Care, Women's Medicine, Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Three residents are assigned with rotations in Musculoskeletal Imaging and Ultrasound.

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance
The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is an association combining the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Children's. Inpatient services are provided at the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Childrens Hospital. Outpatient services are provided at a dedicated facility on the Fred Hutchinson Campus located on the south end of Lake Union just north of downtown Seattle. Four residents are assigned to the outpatient facility with rotations in General Oncology Imaging (CT, MR, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine) and Breast Imaging.
Harborview Medical Center (HMC)

Harborview Medical Center is located on Seattle's First Hill overlooking downtown Seattle and the Puget Sound. HMC serves as the sole level 1 trauma center for the region. A completely new trauma center radiology department opened in 1997 and provides residents a unique training opportunity in a department planned for optimal delivery of acute care radiology. HMC is also the county hospital with an emphasis on general medical and surgical care, Neurology and Neurosurgery. Thirteen residents are assigned with over 250,000 examinations. Bed capacity is 350.
Department of Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System
Seattle VAMC
The Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Healthcare System is the regional referral center for veterans. This modern facility has a bed capacity of 315 and performs over 50,000 examinations annually. The emphasis is on general medical and surgical diseases and Rehabilitation Medicine including Spinal Cord Injury. Six residents are assigned.
Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH)
Seattle Children's Hospital
Seattle Children's Hospital is the principal pediatric teaching hospital for the region. SCH is located adjacent to the University of Washington campus and is a modern 200-bed medical center performing over 60,000 examinations annually. Rotations in all aspects of Pediatric Radiology and an attending staff of eleven pediatric radiologists provide a comprehensive experience for the six residents assigned.
