IR Pathway
in Vascular and Interventional Radiology demand a greater clinical focus than that provided by a traditional Diagnostic Radiology Residency. To meet the need for tailored training, the UW Diagnostic Radiology Residency offers an Interventional Pathway.
• Interested candidates should apply during R2 or early R3 year
• Track Completion Residency completion will be followed by a one year fellowship in VIR
• There will be 1-2 open positions per year for IR Pathway candidates.

Curriculum PGY4
Year ("R4") This year will offer a clinical focus on VIR
Residents will spend:
• 2-4 months as a clinical consultant
• 2-3 months on cardiovascular imaging (MRA, CTA, and Vascular Ultrasound)
• one month on pediatric VIR
• 1-2 months on research PGY5 Year ("R5") The resident will return to Diagnostic Radiology rotations with two additional months of VIR.
