Research Facilities and Environments

  • There are three fully-equipped angio-suites, including one with 3-D imaging function. There is also an image reading/imaging post-processing room for both clinical and basic researches.
  • NIH-funded research projects on image-guided bio-molecular interventions enable the establishment of a new interventional-molecular imaging laboratory, which will begin to function at South Lake Union on July 1, 2008. This lab is specifically designed at NIH Biosafety Level II, and fully equipped with molecular biology wet labs, facilities for cell culture, construction of nanoparticles, histopathologic staining, production of new interventional devices, image post-processing, as well as in vivo ultrasound and optical imaging instruments for small animals.
  • A digital angio-surgery unit, specifically designed for experiments on large animal, is being established on the 6th floor of UWMC.
  • Department of radiology is working on establishment of an interventional MR scanner.
