Case 49 Answer

There are multiple bilateral benign-appearing masses. This most likely represents multiple fibroadenomas. This is common, especially among asian women. In general, I recommend core biopsy of the most suspicious mass. If that is a fibroadenoma, then one can generally assume that the remaining masses are as well. Then, one would follow them all to 2-3 year stability.

A core biopsy was performed of the largest mass, the 2.4 cm palpable mass at 9:00 in the left breast, which was what brought her in to begin with.

Pathology revealed Fibroadenoma with a focus of Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia in the adjacent tissue.

Now what do you recommend?
