Case 40 continued

An ultrasound is the best study for palpable lumps in patients under 30 years of age. For children, this is the best study to perform, although many palpable lumps do end up being the normal breast bud. Keep in mind that in this age group, a breast ultrasound can be a very traumatic experience. The patient often feels very embarrassed and very scared.
