Case 39 Answer

BI-RADS 2, Benign. A round mass with coarse calcifications is present in the right breast consistent with a calcified fibroadenoma. This had been stable for many years in this patient.

This case is difficult for many because the calcifications are different shapes and sizes and the mass is somewhat lobulated-- many have second thoughts. One must be wary, though, because this mass will undoubtedly show significant shadowing on an ultrasound exam because of those large calcs.
