MINI-FELLOWSHIP IN BREAST IMAGING

The Breast Imaging section offers observation periods of one day to two weeks in length. We are able to accommodate one observer at a time or two observers from the same institution.

We provide the full range of breast imaging services including digital mammography, ultrasound, MRI and all image-guided procedures (US, stereotactic and MR guided biopsies and wire localizations). Currently we perform between 800 and 900 breast MRIs each year. We have daily read-out sessions of our breast MR exams. You are welcome to attend our multidisciplinary conferences that are held every Tuesday and Friday, as well as our Thursday teaching sessions. You may select to observe the parts of our practice that are of most interest to you.

Observation takes place at the Women's Center at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA). The SCCA is an alliance between the University of Washington, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Northwest Regional Children's Hospital. The University of Washington Department of Radiology Breast Imaging Section performs all breast MRI, diagnostic imaging and procedures at the SCCA. All screening mammograms from our satellite sites are digitally acquired and sent electronically for central review at the SCCA. All our faculty are specialized, fellowship-trained breast imagers and all are full-time faculty in our department with expertise in clinical work, education, and research. For more information about the SCCA and our breast imaging facilities in our new Women's Center see our Web page: www.seattlecca.org.
